Mandate of the Directorate
The Ministry of Social Welfare Directorate of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support is responsible for promoting the mental well-being of individuals and communities, particularly vulnerable groups affected by social, economic, or traumatic challenges. The directorate works to develop and implement policies, programs, and interventions that support mental health care and psychosocial services across the country.
The directorate also focuses on providing support services for individuals experiencing mental health conditions, trauma, stress, and other psychosocial challenges. It promotes awareness and advocacy on mental health issues, reduces stigma and discrimination, and ensures that affected individuals receive appropriate counseling, rehabilitation, and referral services.
In addition, the directorate collaborates with government institutions, health facilities, community organizations, and development partners to strengthen mental health systems and expand access to psychosocial support. Its work aims to improve the quality of life, resilience, and social inclusion of individuals and families affected by mental health and psychosocial issues
